Unemployment

October 22, 2009 by rescueriders

I thought the unemployment rate was high and people were desperate for work. We have had 20 absences in 20 days and hired 4 new people–all part time– in the same time period. I have had to do the work that those people didn’t do when they didn’t want to come to work plus train the new employees. I hope they work out. I am burned out, so instead of fixing my fence that isn’t working, I am taking the afternoon off. I just went through 99 emails. I do have picutres in my camera and on my phone, but haven’t downloaded them yet. Trying to get a bunch of knitting done for christmas. May have to switch to shorter projects instead of contuning in my book. I have compleated 10 from the book. Few are exactly as published. I will attempt to get pictures up later tonight, but I want to watch So you Think YOu can dance tonight. I am having to move the computer into the living room to get internet reception. This payday, I am getting my own internet.

Cuddles

September 25, 2009 by rescueriders

Cuddles likes to sleep in little chairs. She prefers the bed but can’t get up there. S he doesn’t like to play with dog toys, but loves to play with crinkly stuff.

I moved the red chair out on my little porch. She sleeps out there in the evening, while I am knitting or doing the computer or watching tv until I put her to bed. If it gets late, she will come in and lick my leg and stare at me until I put her on the bed.

Dentist

September 25, 2009 by rescueriders

The horse’s dentist came and did Toby and Mara. Only 1 left and they will have all been done this year, and I can start over. This was Toby’s first dental ever. He is 12 years old. He was a good boy as long as only one person was in the stall with him. 100_0997100_1000100_1007

Is it dry yet

September 23, 2009 by rescueriders

Our dryer is broken, has been for a while now, so we dry the laundry over the fence. Sometimes I will forget to check it to see if it is dry, but I have a willing helper.

We had to block the dock off with sawhorses. When I was walking across the dock the other day, the horses starting following me. I chased them off cause I sure didn’t want them all to get out on the dock then start daring each other to jump off.

Down Time

September 22, 2009 by rescueriders

The other day, Friday, I think, I was waiting for my coworkers to bring the hay for my horses. Misty and Sara were loose still. This was up close and personal. They had lips all over my phone. I had to back up to get close ups. I was enjoying myself so much that I was dissapointed when the dinner tractor came.SaraMistyMisty, the vacuum cleaner

Yesterday was very busy

September 20, 2009 by rescueriders

We had a barbarque for my boss’ grandson who joined the army and came to visit before he went to basic. While I was doing party prep, I supervised lessons a little. I had a teenager come who is a very competent rider to give the other two riders an English riding lesson. They all had a good time together and didn’t want to quit riding. Gave pony rides for the kids at the party. They cried when they had to get off. Had to cancel my evening lesson though. Didn’t think I would have time to clean up and go ride someone’s pony. Turned out I finished clean up by 4:30, but it started pouring while I was feeding my horses at 5:30. So guess everything worked out all right. I did make enough to buy this week’s grain

When I grow up

September 19, 2009 by rescueriders

When I grow up I want to be like the lady I met today in her 70’s. She is taking up riding after a 30 year break, but she works, does yoga, and rollerblades. Not sure I want to take up rollerbladeing at 70, but maybe I could start learning yoga then. Well. guess I better start sooner than that. Don’t know what I will be doing when I grow up, but I hope I am doing as well as she is. … Here is a photo of the baby sweater I made. Gave it to the bosses granddaughter for her baby shower. Knitting other stuff. Not sure who it will go to. I am working through a book called One Skein Wonders. I almost follow the patterns. Baby SweaterCoasters

Catching up

September 16, 2009 by rescueriders

I have been off the computer for a while, but it is way past time to update everything. Amira, one of the horses I got in April, found a new home. She is being loved and coddled along with her new owners two other horses. Lessons picked back up so I was able to switch to a better feed. Hopefully the horses that were dropping weight will pick it back up. Domino is turning out to be a really fun horse to ride and is also well behaved. Chyenne has the park horse trot and is totally amazing to ride, but doesn’t know how to walk yet. Buddy had to have a tun up lesson with the trainer (who called him a bulldozer). He is looking for a nice, authorative. male owner. Beauty is starting to look like a real horse, not a refugee. Ninja may be beautiful, but has nurological problems that will make her unrideable. Thierza is the queen of her paddock and appreciates attention. Jackie is lame again from her arthritis. Toby is recovered from a sand colic (his first illness in his life). AJ is up at the house being auntie to a colt. She is a wonderful mother’s helper, but Derby has started eating her tail.

My old dog Kelly is having trouble walking. Everyone else is well. The property is looking great thanks to all the work my boss is having done on it. We have more riding space than ever. My boss adopted more goats. We now have 12.Samantha stealing the bird seedChyenne atempting to walk while Spirit watches We also got another chicken and 5 chicks from someone who was moving.
